About

Ana has been playing the piano since the age of four, and studied at the Junior Guildhall School of Music and Drama with Elizabeth Newson and John York. Whilst there she also studied the recorder with Marion Scott. She was a music scholar at St. Paul’s Girls’ School, where she won the Alice Lupton Piano Accompaniment Prize, and studied singing with Margaret Humphrey-Clarke.

At the University of Bristol, Ana performed alongside the University of Bristol Chamber Orchestra as a piano soloist (Shostakovich’s 2nd Piano Concerto, Constance Lambert’s Rio Grande), and gave a recital of music by Liszt and Scriabin to help raise funds for the Victoria Rooms refurbishment. She directed an Operatic Society production of Into The Woods, and conducted the Bristol University Madrigal Ensemble for two years. She played orchestral piano with the university’s Symphony Orchestra, various instruments in New Music Ensemble concerts, and sang with the University Singers and Chamber Choir.

Since graduating, Ana has been in demand as a pianist across the South West, performing with various ensembles including Brunel Sinfonia, Bristol Cabot Choir, Westbury Park Orchestra, Longwell Green Orchestra, and Nailsea Concert Orchestra. Past works include Beethoven’s Choral Fantasy, Saint-Saens’ The Carnival of the Animals (Piano 1) and Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue with Nailsea Concert Orchestra.

As an accompanist, Ana has worked with a wide range of community choirs, supporting local music and charity fundraising. She is currently accompanying Choir of the Earth (formerly the Self-Isolation Choir) in their performance of Carmina Burana, for which she created a unique accompaniment arrangement for two pianos and percussion.  Previously she worked with John Rutter at the Choir of the Earth Summer School 2020.

Away from the keyboard Ana has continued singing, notably with Exultate, the Clifton Cathedral Choir, and Bristol Opera.  She has been providing vocal guide tracks for Choir of the Earth and Homechoir since 2020.  She has taught for the Preludes music project, and given piano and recorder lessons both face to face and online, including to students overseas.

Ana is a former GP, a trustee for Life Education Centres Bristol, and the Business Director of Homechoir.  In her free time she enjoys crochet, archery and gaming.
